Lima - Cusco - Machu Picchu - Puno - Lake Titicaca

Detailed day by day activities

Day one (Friday June 30, 2012)

Arrive at Lima International Airport and transport to Residence in the district of Miraflores. Light lunch followed by a walk around the city of Barranco. Rest and get ready for dinner. Late style Afro-Peruvian Peña and Pisco Sours!

Day two (Saturday July 1, 2012)

Off to Cusco! Arrive at our Hotel and get ready for a walk around the city. Lunch near the main square. In the afternoon, we will visit Sacsayhuaman-The incredible fortress overlooking the city. Dinner at one of the restaurants near the main square followed by optional drinks at the local pubs.

Day three (Sunday July 2, 2012)

Horseback tour of the nearby Inca and pre-Inca structures outside of the city, (approx. 3 hours). Lunch, rest and then a tour of the main sights around the city, including the Cathedral, San Blas square and church and Koricancha. Dinner and libations.

Day five (Monday July 3, 2012)

Pisac (An Inca fortress that defended the southern most point of the city of Cusco) Tuesday is the best day to visit. The local artisans display their work in the market near the city where you can find some amazing buys. Bring some Soles (peruvian currency)! We will proceed to our lodge where we will have lunch, relax, take in the beautiful scenery and of course, have some Pisco Sours. Dinner

Day six (Tuesday July 4, 2012)

Ollantaytambo fortress and nearby city of Urubamba and more and more nature. Lunch and train to Aguas Calientes (our Machu Picchu base) Check into our Hotel and hike to waterfalls. Dinner in town. More Pisco Sours?

Day seven (Wednesday July 5, 2012)

Wake up early and head up to the bus station and make our way up to the sanctuary before the sun is up! All day in Machu Picchu with lunch. Train back to Cusco in the late afternoon.

Day six (Thursday July 6, 2012)

Breakfast and transfer to airport to fly to Puno. After getting situated in our hotel, we will visit the main plaza and a couple of important sites including Taquile Island. After lunch we will visit one of the floating islands of Lake Titicaca.

Day seven (Friday July 7, 2012)

Relax in the morning after breakfast and take a road trip to the Chulpas de Sillustani, Burial grounds of the pre-Inca civilization of Tiahuanaco. The landscape in these areas is out of this world. Don't be surprised if you see schools of Vicuñas and Llamas roaming around like sheep in Scotland. It's a beautiful sight! Dinner and relaxation. It is important to take some breaks when touring this area due to its altitude. At more than 12,000 above sea level, it becomes difficult to be active for long periods of time. Of course some people are more tolerant than others.

Day eight (Saturday July 8, 2012)

Flight to Lima after breakfast. Culinary tour of Lima to culminate our trip. We will several spots, including a ceviche house, a street that is dedicated to Pizza only, a couple of restaurants famous for their appetizers, and we will finish it off with a bang at one of Lima's most talked about restaurants followed by amazing deserts!

Day nine (Sunday July 9, 2012)

Breakfast at Ernest Hemingway's favorite spot during his stay in Peru, walk around the artisan shops near Miraflores. Pack, transport to Lima international airport for departure.
